Pontus Holmberg centered the second line last night, however, he was unable to finish the game after he suffered an injury.
The Maple Leafs have had numerous injury problems this season. Ironically, Holmberg was on the second line to replace John Tavares, who was injured last week.
Despite the injury, the Leafs were able to win the game by a score of 5-3. It was a phenomenal night for the team's stars as Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and William Nylander each had a goal.
As for Holmberg, many were concerned about his status and whether or not this is an injury that will keep him out of the lineup for a prolonged period of time.
According to comments from Craig Berube, this is absolutely nothing to be worried about. Based on his comments, it seems like Holmberg should be back on Wednesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Last night's win against the Tampa Bay Lightning was huge as it gave the team a three-game winning streak.
Furthermore, it helped the Maple Leafs separate themselves from the Lightning in the Atlantic Division standings.
For now, it would appear as though the biggest threat to the team's division lead is the Florida Panthers. If anything, the Leafs need to ensure they beat the Panthers the next time these two teams meet.
The Maple Leafs have struggled against the best teams in the league this season but a win against the Lightning is definitely a good start.
As for Holmberg, we will be monitoring his situation as the Leafs prepare for a busy week ahead.
