Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube faced the media in Boston today where he provided a massive update on defenseman Chris Tanev.

Stud defenseman Chris Tanev had to leave the Maple Leafs game against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday due to an apparent upper-body injury.

It was an injury that was sustained following a hit from John Beecher in which the Maple Leafs star seemingly got his arm caught along the boards in a compromising position.

Chris Tanev gives Toronto Maple Leafs good news

Despite the injury, the Maple Leafs were able to recover and win the game by a score of 5-4 in overtime. However, it was not easy as the Leafs were down 3-0 in the game.

Following the match, Tanev was seen with his right arm in a sling and this immediately raised some alarm bells about whether or not he would be out for a long time.

Today, the Maple Leafs are practicing in Boston prior to their trip to New York, and it was here where Craig Berube offered up a huge update on his injured defenseman.

The good news here for the Leafs is that Chris Tanev is being listed as day-to-day and probably won't have to miss very much time.

Berube did say that the defenseman is very likely going to have to miss the game against the New York Rangers, although that is probably the least of the team's worries right now.

As long as they can have the defenseman back healthy in time for the playoffs, the Maple Leafs are going to be just fine.

In the interim, we will likely see Philippe Myers get a well-deserved promotion into the lineup.

Meanwhile, the team could very well bring in Dakota Mermis and Marshall Rifai in as backup during this stretch without Tanev.
