The Maple Leafs have been going with a powerhouse first line that consists of Auston Matthews, William Nylander, and even Mitch Marner.
Overall, these are arguably the three best players on the Toronto Maple Leafs, however, that does not mean they are going to have tremendous chemistry.
Last night, the Leafs defeated the Dallas Stars by a score of 5-3 and Nylander had himself two goals.
Meanwhile, Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews each logged an assist.
Despite this offensive effort, head coach Craig Berube told reporters that it was not enough, and was brutally honest about the game the top line had.
What makes Craig Berube such a good coach is the fact that a mere win does not satisfy him.
Instead, he wants to see the best effort possible and let the results go from there on out. He doesn't want his players to develop bad habits.
Having said that, the top line needs to be better, and Berube just wants everyone to be accountable.
Meanwhile, it was the third line that had the best game by far, with Max Domi, Nick Robertson, and Bobby McMann each getting a goal.
With the depth scoring going up a notch, perhaps the Maple Leafs are in for a tremendous 2025 calendar year.
