Craig Berube makes huge announcement regarding Auston Matthews & Matthew Knies
Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube came through with a huge update today on Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies.
Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies have both been out of the Maple Leafs lineup with injuries, although Knies has only been out for two games while Matthews has been out for nine.
After the team's 5-1 blowout loss at the hands of the Florida Panthers, fans were begging for some good news as it pertains to Matthews and Knies.
The two forwards were giving fans some hope as they both played on the same line with William Nylander at practice on Friday.
Today is Saturday, and we are hours away from puck drop, which has led to anticipation about Berube's lineup announcement.
Well, according to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, fans got some huge news that will definitely make them happy.
Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies are back
As Fox reported, Berube confirmed that Knies and Matthews will be in the lineup, which should come as music to the ears of Leafs nation.
In his first 13 games this season, Auston Matthews was able to score five goals while adding another six assists.
It is not the pace fans are used to, however, the injury was considered a factor that was slowing him down.
As for Knies, he was doing quite well to start the year as he had eight goals and another four assists.
The Maple Leafs have won seven of their last nine and despite Matthews' absence, the team still leads the Atlantic Division with a record of 13-7-2.
