During a game against the Anaheim Ducks last week, Anthony Stolarz went down with an injury that was originally listed as day-to-day.
However, since that time, the goaltender has been demoted down to the injured reserve, which means he can only come back as soon as Friday.
Last night, the Maple Leafs knocked off the Buffalo Sabres and they did so with Stolarz's replacement, Dennis Hildeby in the net.
Despite the win, there are a lot of Maple Leafs fans out there who would much rather have their starter in the lineup given just how good he's been so far this year.
Recently, Leafs had coach Craig Berube was asked about Anthony Stolarz, and unfortunately, it did not lead to a very good answer.
In fact, one could call Berube's comments here "sobering" as there seems to be a refusal to give a clear indication of the goalie's status.
While losing Stolarz is certainly not the best thing to happen to this team, they at least have some solid goaltending in the likes of Joseph Woll.
After all, Woll was supposed to be the starter this year until he got injured and his counterpart started playing impeccable hockey.
Whatever the case may be, Leafs fans shouldn't get too worried too soon. There have been no real indications that this injury is a significant one. However, we really hope it does not get any worse.
