For the second straight game, the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the New Jersey Devils in overtime.
Instead of Auston Matthews scoring the game-winner, it was William Nylander, who has been struggling as of late. Of course, tonight was a nice reprieve for Nylander who had two goals.
It was also a homecoming of sorts for Keefe as it was his first time coaching in Toronto since being fired.
Unfortunately, the game did not go his way and the Leafs have proven to be an Achilles heel for his New Jersey Devils this season.
After the game, Keefe spoke about the loss and how he felt. He even threw in a joke for good measure.
As for the Maple Leafs, this was a necessary win for the team given all of the hardship they have gone through as of late.
The team came into this game on a three-game losing streak where some of the team's players looked completely disinterested.
However, tonight was a nice change as guys like Matthews and Nylander each notched two goals apiece. This was the kind of performance the team needed and they delivered.
Meanwhile, it appears as though Keefe might just be cursed by his former team. Only time will tell if he can break that curse.
