Joseph Woll let in five goals on 33 shots against the Carolina Hurricanes last night and there were a few goals that the goaltender probably should have stopped.
Of course, as a goaltender, you're not going to be lights out every single game.
However, one thing that has been concerning is that the Leafs do not get good goaltending when they play against the best teams in the league.
Whether it be Carolina, Florida, or even Winnipeg, their goaltenders have struggled against the best teams.
After last night's loss to the Hurricanes, Craig Berube spoke about Woll's performance, and while he knows some goals were bad, he did have a bit of praise for the netminder.
In 21 games this season, Woll has amassed 14 wins while also notching a goals-against average of 2.58 and a save percentage of .912.
These are decent enough numbers, but the team does need to see Woll elevate whenever they play against those upper-echelon teams.
For now, the Leafs are also in limbo as they await the return of Anthony Stolarz, who could very well be the starter going forward if he picks up from where he left off.
Whatever the case may be, the Leafs are more focused on this Saturday, when they take on the Vancouver Canucks.
