Craig Berube Unveils His Goaltending Plan for the Rest of the Toronto Maple Leafs Season
Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has two potential number one goalie on his team and now, he must make a difficult decision to finish out the season.
Craig Berube has a tough job to end the season as we are approaching the playoffs and the Maple Leafs still do not have a starting goalie.
Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll have both played well and it has allowed the team to be successful. However, no one knows which one of these guys will start the postseason.
Craig Berube on Toronto Maple Leafs goaltending
Prior to yesterday's game against the Chicago Blackhawks, Berube spoke to the media about the predicament he is in with his goalies.
As he explained, the plan is to split the games for the rest of the season and make a decision later on.
Simply put, Berube is kicking the can down the road until one goalie finally separates themselves as the better player.
"Today on TSN's Toronto Maple Leafs pre-game coverage, Craig Berube was asked how he plans to use his goalies down the stretch. Chief confirmed that he plans to utilize both Woll and Stolarz during what will be a very busy schedule. Still no clear cut #1 goalie in Toronto."
This is not going to be easy and one has to wonder if any of these goals are going to be able to differentiate themselves.
For now, the edge would probably go to Anthony Stolarz, but as it stands, Woll has the better playoff experience.
The Maple Leafs are currently leading the Atlantic Division which would give them a Wild Card matchup in the postseason.
This would be a great place to start, but for Berube, the decisions are only going to get more difficult from this point forward.
