Overall, Samsonov left the Maple Leafs in the offseason and since that time, he has played nine games in which he has posted a 3.40 GAA and a .892 SV%.
These are numbers that make him one of the weaker backup goalies in the entire NHL, and last night was not much better for him.
The Vegas Golden Knights were playing against the Utah Hockey Club and by the second period, Samsonov had already allowed six goals.
Two of these goals were horrendous although the one we are about to show you is actually quite shocking.
Samsonov came out to play the puck and then made a bad pass which left the net completely wide open for the Utah Hockey Club to score.
It was one of those goals that will forever make its way to blooper reels.
Later in the game, Samsonov let in another bad one as the puck got put right into the back of the net as Samsonov was completely out of position
As for the Maple Leafs, well, they are much better without the likes of Samsonov in goal.
With Joseph Woll and Anthony Stolarz, the Leafs have had one of the best goaltending tandems in the entire National Hockey League.
These two goalies are making other teams fearful, and Woll is even on a five-game winning streak.
Needless to say, the Leafs made the right choice when they let Samsonov walk.
