In fact, Pontus Holmberg missed Tuesday's game against the New York Islanders presumably because of the exact same illness that kept Oliver Ekman-Larsson out of the match.
Tonight, the Leafs are back in action and this time around, they are having a rematch against the Islanders.
Thankfully, Oliver Ekman-Larsson has been cleared to play and he will, in fact, be returning to the lineup.
However, as it pertains to Holmberg, there have been some fears that he would have to miss a second-straight game, as he was not at practice on Wednesday.
Well, those fears were confirmed on Thursday as it was reported by David Alter of The Hockey News that Holmberg would be out of the lineup.
The good news here is the fact that Holmberg is feeling a bit better which means we could see him this weekend against the Boston Bruins and the Philadelphia Flyers.
Unfortunately, Holmberg has had a difficult season with the Maple Leafs as he only has two goals and four assists in 32 games.
On most nights, he has been relegated to the fourth line, and head coach Craig Berube does not seem super impressed with his play thus far.
Only time will tell whether or not Holmberg will be able to improve his play in the second half of the season.
If he doesn't, then the Leafs may be forced to send him to another team via trade.
