Fraser Minten Linked to Eastern Conference Team Ahead of Trade Deadline
Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten has been embroiled in numerous rumors as the team looks to make some big moves at the trade deadline.
It is no secret that the Maple Leafs want to get themselves another center at the deadline this year.
However, it is not going to be an easy task, and players like Fraser Minten are being thrown into trade rumors as a result.
Are the Toronto Maple Leafs trading Fraser Minten
According to Anthony Di Marco, Minten is actually being linked to the Philadelphia Flyers.
Why? Well, it is because the Maple Leafs are trying to trade for Flyers center Scott Laughton who is being pursued by about seven different teams right now.
The Flyers are believed to be shopping center Scott Laughton, with at least seven teams expressing interest, including the Leafs. Fraser Minten's name has been tied to the Flyers, as his addition would help address their weak prospect pipeline, particularly in terms of center depth. Some believe the Leafs should target a second-line center instead of Laughton, which would allow John Tavares to move to the wing and Max Domi to the third-line center spot. Laughton would cost the Maple Leafs a lot of cap space which means they may also have to trade David Kampf as part of a potential deal.
With less than $3 million in cap space, fitting Laughton's $3 million AAV could be a challenge. The Flyers are unlikely to retain salary but may be willing to take back a player like David Kampf and his $2.4 million cap hit.
The Flyers are looking for a first-round pick or an equivalent prospect/player in return for Laughton. Although the Leafs don't have a 2025 first-round pick, the Flyers are open to receiving one in 2026.
Brad Treliving is going to have to work some magic, with many insiders and analysts claiming the Leafs just don't have enough to make a substantial trade.
However, it feels like now or never for this Maple Leafs team, and fans want to see a deal.
Treliving has yet to make a big trade and if he doesn't make one at the deadline, fans are going to be frustrated.
