Fraser Minten notched a beauty as his first professional goal (video)
Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten made a strong impression by scoring his first professional goal with the Toronto Marlies against the Cleveland Monsters.
After suffering a high-ankle sprain during the Prospect Showdown in Montreal, Fraser Minten's season started late, but he has quickly found his stride in the AHL.
He is at the center of the Marlies' second line alongside Nikita Grebenkin and Alex Nylander, Fraser Minten notched his first goal and marked his third point in as many games.
His AHL debut came on November 9 against the Charlotte Checkers, where he got an assist on Logan Shaw's goal and recorded his first professional point.
Reflecting on his return, Minten expressed his excitement:
"It feels like a long time ago, so it was very fun."
Minten had a promising preseason with the Leafs last fall and even earned a spot on the opening night roster.
He played four NHL games early in the 2023-24 season on the third line and was averaging 11:26 of ice time but he didn't register any points back then.
Following his NHL apparition, he returned to the WHL and was traded from the Kamloops Blazers to the Saskatoon Blades where he had 38 points in 36 games.
Internationally, Minten was captain of Team Canada at the 2024 World Juniors, contributing one goal and two assists in five games. Despite his efforts, Czechia eliminated Canada in the quarterfinals.
Drafted 38th overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2022 NHL Draft, Minten signed a three-year entry-level contract with an annual average value of $816,666.
Now healthy, he aims to build on his early AHL success and continue developing into a key prospect for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
