Joseph Woll has had some phenomenal stretches of hockey so far this season, but at times, he has also struggled.
Despite this, the goaltender has been able to battle back on numerous occasions, and now, he is forcing Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube to make a difficult decision.
In the last two games, Woll has picked up a pair of wins against the New York Islanders.
Sure, the Islanders are not a good team, but that does not negate the fact that the goalie has been phenomenal in those games.
He has been able to secure a goals-against average of 1.50 while also securing a .946 save percentage.
Moreover, in the first game, Woll battled back after tweaking something, which is not something he would have done in the past.
Simply put, Woll is showing new sides of himself and it is clear that his objective is to win Berube over while Anthony Stolarz remains sidelines.
Although Stolarz was the clear number one prior to his injury, there is a bit of concern surrounding the netminder's return and whether or not he can be the same guy he was prior to the operation.
If Woll continues to play at an elite level, Berube will have no choice but to crown him as the starter, especially with the playoffs coming up in April.
This weekend, Woll will be tested again, although no one really knows the order in which him and Dennis Hildeby will play.
Saturday, the Leafs will take on the Bosotn Bruins while Sunday will be a battle against the Philadelphia Flyers.
