Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube did not have the most offensive NHL career and he couldn't help but admit that while speaking on Matthew Knies' hat trick.

Matthew Knies secured his first career hat trick on Saturday night against the Boston Bruins, and all three goals were highlight-reel-worthy tallies.

Craig Berube divulges on Maple Leafs forward Matthew Knies

The Maple Leafs forward was able to get the party started in the second period by scoring off of a tip from Auston Matthews.

Subsequently, Knies scored an absolute beauty to kick off the third period which is going to be all over the Sportscentre Top 10 this week.

Lastly, he had his hat trick goal, which can be seen below. This goal was quite impressive as he just rifled the shot as soon as Matthews put it on his stick.

It should also be noted that Knies was able to add two assists in the game, brining his point total to five.

After the game, Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube was asked about Knies and his history-making evening.

Berube could not help but take the opportunity to make fun of himself and his lack of offensive success throughout his own NHL career.

Craig Berube on Matthew Knies' three-goal, five-point night: «That was a whole year for me.»

With this performance, Knies now has 14 goals and 10 assists on the season, while notching a +2 net rating.

He will have another opportunity to run up his numbers tonight against the Philadelphia Flyers.
