Jake McCabe and Simon Benoit are two defensemen who have struggled to score this season, but that could change now that the former has finally gotten on the scoresheet.
A Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman had not scored a goal since November 30th going into last night's game against the Boston Bruins.
It was his first of the season, and it was a huge monkey off the back for the Toronto Maple Leafs blue line.
Unfortunately for Simon Benoit, it ended up costing the defenseman a total of $100.
Why? Well, according to Maple Leafs reporter Nick Barden, Benoit and McCabe had a running bet. Whoever scored first between them, got $100.
Things have not been particularly easy for Benoit as he only has four assists this season and has struggled at times on the defensive end.
Meanwhile, McCabe has excelled defensively while notching nine assists on top of his most recent goal.
Tonight, the Toronto Maple Leafs are taking on the Philadelphia Flyers and both players are expected to be in the lineup.
If the Leafs win, that will make it four-in-a-row and there is an expectation that the team will increase its lead in the Atlantic Division.
