At the start of the season, Stolarz was deemed the starting goaltender due to the fact that Woll was injured.
When Woll returned to the lineup, he was good but he still wasn't the version of himself that we saw last season.
This allowed Stolarz to get the vast majority of the starts, and for the most part, he was looking like a bonafide starting netminder.
However, Craig Berube decided to give Woll a couple of starts during this most recent stretch of games, and it has worked out splendidly.
Woll got himself a shutout against the Las Vegas Golden Knights and then helped the team defeat the Utah Hockey Club, 3-2.
Woll's efforts have been so great that the NHL decided to honor the netminder this past week.
As you can see, Woll was named the third star of the week by the NHL as he posted a 2-0 record and had a save percentage of .964.
Zach Werenski was named the first star of the week which makes a whole lot of sense.
Subsequently, Mikko Rantanen was named the second star of the week. Both players had two goals and five assists over a three-game span.
Having said that, it remains clear that for now, Woll should be the starter in Toronto.
He has definitely earned it and Leafs fans should just be happy that they have two starting-caliber goaltenders.
Only time will tell if Woll can translate all of this to some playoff success.
