Nashville Predators forward Ryan O'Reilly is the kind of player this Toronto Maple Leafs team could use right about now, although it would take a miracle for him to be traded.

Ryan O'Reilly is one of those players that the Toronto Maple Leafs never took advantage of while they had him on their roster.

He was a Stanley Cup-winning centerman who provided the perfect amount of depth for this roster.

However, he never saw eye-to-eye with Sheldon Keefe, and he eventually left for the Predators.

Toronto Maple Leafs want Ryan O'Reilly back

With the trade deadline coming up and the Toronto Maple Leafs looking for another center, there have been all sorts of rumors that Brad Treliving would target O'Reilly.

Unfortunately for the Leafs, a new report from Elliotte Friedman suggests that the Nashville Predators have no interest in moving ROR.

While the forward may not have a no-trade clause, the Preds are treating him as if he actually does.

O'Reilly has 12 goals and 13 assists this season in the 39 games that he has played.

However, the Predators have been a terrible team this season and while some would assume they would be sellers, Barry Trotz has decided to act as though the Predators are contenders.

Only time will tell whether or not this is a strategy that ends up working out for the Predators.

As for the Maple Leafs, they will continue to pursue a new center, although they will have to come from elsewhere.

No matter what, it is clear as day that the Leafs could use some extra offense, and it is disappointing that ROR won't be availabe.
