Morgan Rielly's offensive and defensive numbers have been some of the worst of his entire career and many are wondering what's going on.
Throughout the season, Craig Berube has given Rielly numerous defensive partners and none of them have truly panned out.
Unfortunately, Rielly and McCabe have not gelled which isn't surprising given the fact that the former has struggled with all of his partners this season.
According to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, head coach Craig Berube is now breaking up the pair. Rielly will go with Oliver Ekman-Larsson and McCabe will reunite with Chris Tanev.
These pairings will get to play with one another on Saturday as the Maple Leafs take on take on the Edmonton Oilers.
The Leafs are currently on a three-game losing streak and in those games, they have only scored a total of three goals.
It is imperative that the team gets back into the win column, especially now that they are second in the Atlantic Division.
Overall, the Leafs are a team that should be contending for a Stanley Cup, and if they don't win a couple of rounds in the playoffs this season, there will be hell to pay.
Having said that, the team really needs Rielly to start playing at a much higher level.
