Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson came into this season with a lot to prove to his new head coach, Craig Berube.

After not getting a ton of ice time last season, it was looking like Robertson was angling for a trade. However, that trade never actually came. Instead, the Leafs signed the young potential star, and the rest was history.

Unfortunately, Robertson has gotten off to a slow start for the Leafs. He is not living up to the expectations, and fans are certainly getting just a tad bit frustrated. In fact, on Monday night, he was a scratch against the Winnipeg Jets.

During a scrum with the media, Robertson noted that being a scratch is just part of the game.

"I mean, again, I don't know. I'm not sure if it's a surprise or not. I just go with it. I don't take it personally; I just have to work hard. And again, there are other guys who aren't playing that probably should be. It's just part of the deal, and it's my job to keep working hard."

On Wednesday, the lines at practice suggested that Robertson would be scratched again. However, in the report above, it was made clear that Robertson will actually play tonight. Which is certainly good news.

Meanwhile, in that same reporter scrum, Robertson admitted that he has had bad luck to start the year. Regardless, he is confident in his abilities and he thinks he can eventually get back to greatness.

"It has been fine. I think I've had some good games, some OK games, but puck luck hasn't really been there. I'm sure that'll turn around. I'm still confident in my game. I'm not beating myself up about it. I know that I'm getting another opportunity, whenever that is, and it's my job to execute."

Tonight will be the perfect opportunity for Robertson to prove people wrong and get back on the score sheet. The Leafs play the Seattle Kraken, who just won against the Seattle Kraken, who just won against the Montreal Canadiens 8-2. Toronto comes into the game with a 5-4-1 record.
