Timothy Liljegren sends a message to Toronto after trade to the San Jose Sharks
On Wednesday night, the Toronto Maple Leafs made the decision to trade Timothy Liljegren to the San Jose Sharks, in exchange for a 3rd round pick, a 6th round pick, and Matt Benning.
Overall, this is a trade that has Maple Leafs nation talking. There are debates about whether or not this was the right move to make.
However, Liljegren was not getting any ice time, so it made sense that the Leafs would want to move him. At the end of the day, you want to maximize how your roster is being used. With Liljegren missing multiple games due to being a scratch, a trade felt all but confirmed.
Having said that, there are no hard feelings between Liljegren and the Leafs. At least not publically. On Instagram, Liljegren thanked the franchise and its fans for welcoming him with open arms and giving him his start in the National Hockey League.

Only time will tell how the Sharks will utilize Liljegren. They are a team that is in need of talent, so he will certainly be given more playing time. Whether or not this leads to on-ice success for the Sharks, is still a question left unanswered.
