During his most recent stint with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Dennis Hildeby struggled to the point where fans were begging for him to be sent down to the AHL.
Eventually, that is exactly what happened as the goaltender was given an assignment with the Toronto Marlies.
Since going down to the minors, Hildeby has been playing extremely well, which is exactly what the Toronto Maple Leafs were hoping for.
He has put up a record of 7-2-2, a goals-against average of 2.39, and a save percentage of .914.
In fact, his performances have been so good that the AHL has officially made Hildeby part of the All-Star Game which is going down next week.
This is a massive honor that is going to make a lot of fans out there happy, especially after his NHL struggles.
Regardless of whether or not the AHL is easier, your confidence can waiver when not playing well at the highest level.
However, Hildeby has not let it affect him. Instead, he has been playing his best hockey and his development is in a very good place.
One has to wonder what will happen next for Hildeby and whether or not we see him in the NHL again this season.
It is unlikely, but you never know how things can shake out with injuries and other such ailments plaguing the Leafs this year.
