Two Toronto Marlies prospects Fuel Trade Rumors After Being Left Out of the Lineup
The NHL trade deadline is on the horizon and with rumors running rampant, the Toronto Marlies opted to sit two prospects who have played with the Toronto Maple Leafs this season.
Fraser Minten and Nikita Grebenkin have been called up by the Toronto Maple Leafs a couple of times this season.
However, they were recently sent back down to the Marlies, and curiously, they have been left out of the lineup two games in a row.
Are Fraser Minten and Nikita Grebenkin getting traded?
In fact, both players failed to crack the lineup today which has led to a whole lot of speculation about their statuses moving forward.
As many of you already know, the trade deadline is in about a month from now, and guys like Minten have found themselves in the middle of trade rumors.
With both players out of the lineup tonight, there is this feeling that they could both be wrapped up in some trade rumors.
For now, however, there is no real indication that general manager Brad Treliving is on the verge of shipping them out.
If he does, then it may come as a surprise to a lot of Leafs fans who thought these players would be with the organization for longer.
However, the Maple Leafs are a team that is searching for a Stanley Cup and sometimes, that means making very difficult decisions.
It is not going to be easy for the Maple Leafs to part ways with these guys but if it means securing a third-line center, Brad Treliving is going to do it.
Hopefully, the Leafs are active at the deadline and it makes the team significantly better as the postseason arrives.
