The first game was in Montreal and while no one knew what to expect from the match, the ticket prices were fairly steep.
However, tonight is for the championship which means resellers are pricing their tickets at a premium, and if you want to go to the game, it is safe to say that you will need to take out a second mortgage on your house.
In a tweet from Chris Johnston, you can see that the vast majority of tickets are going for over $1200. This is a lot of money, especially just for one match.
That said, this game is being touted as one of the biggest matches in the history of hockey, which is wild when you consider how it is not an Olympic or Stanley Cup final match.
Instead, it is a tournament that did not exist even a year ago. The NHL crafted this up on a whim and it has proven to be the greatest alternative to an All-Star Game that sports have ever seen.
The entire sports world is envious of the NHL right now, and Gary Bettman has got to feel pretty good about it.
All-Star games would never elicit those kinds of resale figures, and with the President of the United States being made aware of this match, it is clear we are witnessing something special.
