Easton Cowan is easily one of the most exciting prospects that the Toronto Maple Leafs have right now, and he is currently in the OHL breaking records.
As we reported a few days ago, Cowan broke Doug Gilmour's point streak record, although he also got injured in the process.
Easton Cowan has been banged up quite a bit this season, and it has led to questions about his physicality and whether or not he would be able to play for Team Canada at the World Juniors.
It was expected that Cowan would be on the top line and those suspicions were confirmed when Cowan was one of 32 players selected to be part of the selection camp.
Today, Hockey Canada confirmed that Easton Cowan will attend the selection camp, although he will not participate.
The logic here is very simple. Cowan is currently suffering from whiplash, and he does not want to aggravate his injury unnecessarily.
His spot on Team Canada is pretty well safe, and there is no doubt that he will be ready to go by Boxing Day.
Either way, this is going to be one of the biggest opportunities of Cowan's career, and we cannot wait to see how he is able to handle it.
Cowan is a player with so much potential, and it is going to be quite the ride watching him with a Leaf on his jersey that isn't associated with Toronto.
Hopefully, he can make the most of it and help Team Canada bounce back from last year's disappointment.
