Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube offered some interesting comments on Saturday night following his team's loss to the struggling Pittsburgh Penguins.

Craig Berube's Maple Leafs are currently on their first two-game losing streak since the end of October, and a lot of fans were not happy with last night's lackluster performance.

The Leafs and Penguins were tied at two going into the third period, but the Penguins ultimately ran away with the game.

Following the match, Berube spoke to the media, and it was here that he explained his decision to bench players like Nick Robertson.

He just has to play better. That is it. We all know that. I talked to him today about it. We will figure it out.

It is my job and the coaching staff's job to help him. It is his job to find a way to play better hockey. He is capable of it. He has ability - speed, a good shot. We have to find a way to get him going.

As for the game as a whole, Berube made some interesting comments about his team's effort.

Craig Berube finds positivity in another Maple Leafs loss

Essentially, Berube does not believe that his team had a bad game. However, there are a lot of things the team needs to clean up right now.

Chief among them is the bad discipline that has plagued this team since the very beginning of the season.

We had good O-zone time and opportunities, and so I was happy with a lot of the game. You know, there's things we can always clean up, right? But I like the effort to compete. It was really good. Guys are skating and working, so a lot of good things. But we've got to clean up a few things and be better.

This week, the Toronto Maple Leafs will have a couple of games that could determine where this team is at ahead of the Christmas break.

These losses to Washington and Pittsburgh could simply be virtues of being tired after a long winning streak.

Hopefully, the Leafs are able to figure it out.
