Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Pacioretty made his return to the ice on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Penguins, although it didn't go according to plan.

Max Pacioretty had been out of the Maple Leafs lineup for weeks following an injury sustained against his former team, the Montreal Canadiens.

However, on Saturday, Pacioretty made his triumphant return to the Maple Leafs lineup, and fans were very excited about it.

In the end, head coach Craig Berube decided to put Max Pacioretty on a line with both Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.

While Matthews and Marner both had good games, Pacioretty struggled to get back into the swing of things and took two very bad penalties.

These penalties were taken within just a few minutes of one another, and they were both infractions against Penguins defenseman Kris Letang.

After the game, Pacioretty spoke about the 5-2 loss and noted that he shoulders a lot of the blame for how things went down. He knows he has to be more disciplined.

"You don't want to be in the box, not to say I completely agree with it all. But, you know, that's the way the game goes sometimes. I got to be probably smarter there. But, you know, the right intent is there. I just got to be a bit more disciplined."

At the end of the day, the Maple Leafs' loss was not entirely on Pacioretty.

Instead, it can be blamed on the bottom six forwards, who have struggled to get anything going this season.

A lot of fans are losing patience when it comes to the bottom six, and it is very easy to understand why this is the case.

This week, the Leafs will have opportunities to bounce back against the New Jersey Devils and the Anaheim Ducks.
