To start the season, he had a record of 0-2-0 with a 4.50 GAA and .864 SV%. These are not good numbers and it is easy to see why the team would want to move on.
Quite frankly, the Ducks have not been sensational so far this season. The team should be growing, but they aren't.
Having a goaltender put up these kinds of numbers is certainly not going to help matters and the Ducks know this all too well.
So much so that today, it was announced that Reimer was officially going waivers. Yes, that's right, James Reimer is not going to be on the Ducks for much longer. If he clears, he will go to the AHL.
Reimer had some decent seasons with the Maple Leafs where he posted a save percentage of .914 and had a GAA of 2.84.
However, one of his biggest moments was a sore spot for Leafs fans. He was the goaltender during that infamous collapse against the Bruins in 2013.
Despite this, Reimer has had a solid run in the National Hockey League. He has lasted for a very long time and has been seen as a serviceable backup goalie.
That said, his best days are officially behind him, and the Ducks have had no choice but to take some action on it.
Only time will tell whether or not we will see Reimer bounce back, in any sort of capacity.
