Who should replace Max Pacioretty in the Maple Leafs top six?
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Pacioretty is currently out of the team's lineup with a substantial lower-body injury.
The injury was sustained against the Montreal Canadiens and fans are wondering what is going to happen next.
Today, the team called up Alex Steeves as an emergency but he probably won't play.
Now, there is discussion about how should be bumped up to the top six to take that spot left by Pacioertty.
The two names being floated around right now are Nick Robertson and Bobby McCann. Both seem like solid options, at least for now.
Sportsnet's JD Bunkis and Justin Bourne discussed all of this. They argued that Robertson should get the opportunity.
However, there is a caveat. Essentially, he needs to play well or else this could be his last chance getting this kind of opportunity.
Nick Robertson to replace Max Pacioretty?
With Robertson, it's always been 'hey what if he was with skilled players? What if other guys opened up opportunities for him to create a shot?' We know now that he is never going to be able to create his own shot.
For me, this is kind of the last hurrah for Robertson where you say, 'go out and do it with these top-six guys. Prove you are somebody with other guys and if not, unfortunately when this roster gets healthy, you have to be the guy that gets scratched.'"
It will be interesting to see what head coach Craig Berube ends up deciding.
Right now, the Leafs are on a three-game winning streak and they will look to make it four against the Ottawa Senators.
No matter what, this should be a very fun game, as rivalries always bring out the best in every player.
