During the preseason, Laine was looking to start strong with the Montreal Canadiens, however, Pare left him with a sprained knee.
This is an injury that could have been a whole lot worse when you consider how it looked at the time. Luckily, Laine was okay and did not require any significant rehab.
Instead, Laine was given a reasonable return timeline, with most expecting him to be back in early 2025.
Well, Laine was looking to make his comeback a whole lot earlier. Over the last few days, Laine has attended practice and has been a full participant.
Today, Eric Engels reported that Laine will officially be in the Canadiens lineup as the team takes on the New York Islanders.
Laine will also be on the first Power Play unit which showcases the Habs are ready to give him some big assignments.
As for the lines, Laine will be playing with the likes of Kirby Dach and Juraj Slafkovsk, which should prove to be interesting.
The Montreal Canadiens were supposed to take a leap this season, however, defense and goaltending have been a huge weakness.
Not to mention, the offense has gone stagnant at times, which makes Laine's return to action that much more exciting.
Hopefully, Laine is able to score as that would absolutely have the Bell Center going nuts.
