Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews was livid with the referees last night during the team's win against the Chicago Blackhawks, and for good reason.

Auston Matthews notched the first goal of the game for the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday night in an easy win that cemented the Leafs has a juggernaut in the NHL this season.

However, Matthews was angry due to something that went down later on in the game, involving Connor Murphy of the Blackhawks.

As you can see above, Matthews was hit in the head late by Murphy.

Subsequently, Matthews went after Murphy and gave him a bit of a shove. However, while Murphy was left unscathed by the powers that be, Matthews was assessed a penalty.

The Maple Leafs captain did not take too kindly to this as he was absolutely dumbfounded that such a penalty would be called.

This led to a heated exchange with the referees, where Matthews did not hold back one bit as he laced into them and dropped some profanities in the process.

"Are you f--king kidding me? Right in the f--kg head," said Matthews. "Right in the f--king head. F--king joke."

With last night's impressive win, the Maple Leafs have now won a total of nine of their last 11 games.

Moreover, they remain atop the Atlantic Division standings with a record of 15-7-2.

With Matthews back in the lineup, sky is the limit for this team. Numerous players are coming back, and that is great news for the fans.
