Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Anthony Stolarz is out with an injury, however, ahead of a game against the Detroit Red Wings, the netminder gave his team some good news.

Anthony Stolarz went down with an injury on Thursday night against the Anaheim Ducks, and yesterday, it was revealed that he would be day-to-day.

Anthony Stolarz gives Toronto Maple Leafs something to cheer for

Tonight, the Toronto Maple Leafs will be taking on the Detroit Red Wings, and the two goaltenders in the lineup will be Dennis Hildeby and Joseph Woll.

With Stolarz out, this pretty much opens up the floodgates for Woll to get some high-quality starts and potentially steal the starting job.

However, Maple Leafs fans should feel some optimism around their injured goaltender.

We say this because Sportsnet reporter Luke Fox just gave a massive update on Anthony Stolarz, noting that he made the trip to Detroit.

Bobby McMann returns tonight in Detroit.

Anthony Stolarz traveled with Leafs. He will not play Sunday vs. Buffalo.

The last part of that statement is very important here.

Sure, Stolarz might be making the trip, but do not expect him to play either of the next two games.

Having said that, the fact that he is healthy enough to even make the trip is a very good sign that this injury is not serious and his absence is only a precautionary one.

Tonight, the Leafs take on a struggling Red Wings squad that have lost seven of their last eight.

Needless to say, regardless of who is in the goal, the Toronto Maple Leafs should be able to get the W.
