Two of the biggest stars in the entire NHL are Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers.
For decades, the biggest knock against the NHL is that it has been terrible at marketing its superstars.
However, in recent years, the league has made a real effort to change that, and the fans have certainly been taking notice of this.
In fact, Matthews and McDavid are ambassadors for McDonald's, a major partner of the National Hockey League.
Today, the two starred in a new promotional campaign for the fast food chain, and it appears as though something interesting is being announced tomorrow.
In the clip above, the two are seen in a darkly lit arena, where they both enter the face-off dot against one another.
It is reminiscent of an old Wayne Gretzky ad from decades ago, however, the commercial ends with the date 01/07/2025, which suggests something is coming.
Perhaps this all has to do with the 4 Nations Face-Off which is set to begin next month.
Or, it could just be your typical run-of-the-mill McDonald's campaign, with Matthews and McDavid getting their own meals.
Only time will tell what is actually going on here. In the meantime, we will be sure to keep you informed.
Hopefully, this subverts the expectations of fans, because the hyper around this seems pretty significant.
