Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer Ryan Reaves has been placed on waivers just one day prior to the NHL trade deadline and things are about to get interesting.

Ryan Reaves is a 36-year-old enforcer for the Toronto Maple Leafs who simply hasn't been playing a lot of hockey as of late and fans have demanding his exit from the Maple Leafs.

Well, today, the team took action against the enforcer as they officially placed him on waivers ahead of Friday's NHL trade deadline.

In 35 games this season, Reaves has managed just two points and a net rating of -2.

Overall, he has been pretty pedestrian and he has not been much of an enforcer either with just one fight on the entire season.

Whenever he does get into the lineup, he barely injects energy or even physicality which has left to speculation that he just doesn't have the passion to be an enforcer anymore.

With Ryan Reaves becoming a frequent healthy scratch, it was starting to become clear that the Maple Leafs just didn't have much space for him anymore and that this kind of move was coming.

If he clears waivers, he will likely be sent down to the Toronto Marlies, or the Leafs will just trade him at the deadline tomorrow.

In fact, it is being reported by Chris Johnston that the Maple Leafs have just saved quite a bit of cap space by making this move.

Ultimately, this will allow general manager Brad Treliving more space tomorrow to make a trade for his team.

Fans are expecting some kind of move, and as it stands, the Toronto Maple Leafs are looking at guys like Brayden Schenn and Scott Laughton.

As for Ryan Reaves, it will be interesting to see what happens to his career from here on out. He is an older player, and this could prove to be his last stop in the league.
