Auston Matthews is playing in his first 4 Nations Face-Off game tonight and fans are very excited to see him in action for Team USA.
Last night's debut between Team Canada and Team Sweden was an instant classic, and fans are eager to see if the US and Finland can keep up.
Despite not playing, Matthews was at the Bell Centre last night where he was introduced in front of the Montreal fans.
Of course, the Toronto Maple Leafs are not beloved by fans in Montreal and as a result, Matthews was met with a huge chorus of boos across the arena.
However, when asked about these boos, Matthews gave a very interesting answer, noting that if people didn't care about him, they wouldn't be reacting that way.
Team USA is favored to go very far in the tournament and a final against Team Canada is very likely at this point.
However, the first game is going to be against Team Finland, a squad that is depleted right now.
On Saturday, Team USA will play a group round game against Canada, and that will likely be the biggest game of the tournament outside of the final.
It is also a pivotal game for both teams as a loss could spell the end of their Finals hopes.
Either way, the hockey has been great so far and fans should leave their cynicism at home going forward.
