Last night, the Toronto Maple Leafs were down and out against New Jersey, however, Auston Matthews came in clutch in overtime to give the Leafs a huge victory.
Overall, it was a truly impressive win considering the team had just one shot in the first period.
In the end, it was Anthony Stolarz who won the team the match, but the Auston Matthews goal was definitely something else.
In the clip below, you can see the goal, which saw Matthews win a foot race, grab a breakaway, and then put the game away glove side on the goaltender.
Following the goal, Matthews was absolutely fired up and he let it show as soon as got back towards the bench.
As you can see in a separate clip posted by P.K. Subban, Matthews pointed at him and taunted him immediately following the goal.
We're not sure what the exact history is here, but Subban seemed to like the passion from the Maple Leafs captain.
A lot has been said about Matthews taking over the captaincy and whether or not it was deserved.
However, there is no denying that Matthews cares a lot about this team and that he wants to prove to the world that he can lead the Maple Leafs to a Stanley Cup.
There is still a lot of season left to be played, and with Matthews getting back to 100 percent, it will be interesting to see if he can catch up in the Rocket Richard race.
