Toronto Maple Leafs forward Connor Dewar has been in a tough position to start the year as he was placed on the long-term injured reserve.

Overall, it has not been a great time for him. However, he was recently taken off of the LTIR alongside Jani Hakanpaa. It was then decided that the two would be heading down to the AHL to play for the Marlies. This would be part of a conditioning stint in which both players could find their way back to the league.

In his first game with the Marlies, against the Cleveland Monsters, Dewar was very impressive. In fact, he got himself a goal and an assist, which should impress the fans out there.

Following this performance with the Marlies, Dewar spoke to the media. It was here where he revealed that getting those points helped his confidence, tremendously.

«It was nice for the confidence,» Dewar said. «I was a little bit nervous, but I was excited at the same time.»

«Before the game, you're worried about that ... and then I went into the game and I felt fine. I was able to put it behind me and play hockey.»

The Leafs will be looking to bring Dewar back into the fold very soon. However, it still remains to be seen when that will happen. No matter what, it must be nice to get back into the thick of it and get a goal.
