Elliotte Friedman provides huge update on Matt Benning's status with the Maple Leafs
Just a few days ago, the Toronto Maple Leafs traded for Matt Benning after giving up Timothy Liljegren to the San Jose Sharks.
Since that time, there have been plenty of rumors surrounding Benning and whether or not he would remain with the franchise, going forward. Benning has noted that the trade rumors do not phase him. However, only time will tell whether or not that is actually the case.
Recently, on 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman offered a more concrete update on what is happening with Benning. As Friedman explained, because of the Leafs' depth, there is a good chance Benning goes. That said, Friedman believes he is an NHLer who can land on his feet.

Whether or not Benning actually gets traded, still remains to be seen. However, there is no doubt that fans are curious what his actual role is going to be on this squad. Perhaps if he can get some good games in, the Leafs will want to keep him around.
