Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Anthony Stolarz has been out of the lineup for quite some time and now, a new update from Craig Berube is hinting at an imminent return.

Anthony Stolarz got injured just a couple of days before Christmas and it ultimately led to the goaltender receiving a procedure on his knee.

However, his rehab has gone according to plan and new comments from Craig Berube suggest we might see the goalie back in action, very soon.

Anthony Stolarz is almost back with the Toronto Maple Leafs

Yesterday, the Maple Leafs were practicing in Calgary prior to their game against the Flames.

Joseph Woll is fresh off of a 45-save performance and reporters were curious if he would be getting a night off.

For now, the Leafs have Matt Murray as their backup, although they would certainly love the opportunity to play a guy like Stolarz instead.

As Berube explains, Stolarz is very close to a return, although the head coach is still thinking about what he wants to do next.

Perhaps the compromise here is to play Joseph Woll tonight and put Stolarz in the lineup as the backup goalie.

If not, then we will probably see Woll get the start tonight while Murray continues to serve as the next man up.

Either way, these comments from Berube suggest that we are going to see Stolarz in the Maple Leafs lineup very soon, barring any setbacks.

The 4 Nations Face-Off is just about a week away, and there is an argument to be made that the Leafs should just sit their goaltender until after the tournament.

That said, wins are important around this time of year, and Berube needs to give his the team the best chance to be successful. Anthony Stolarz provides that.
