Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube has given his official take on the team's struggling offense which sputtered against the league-best Winnipeg Jets.

Yesterday, the Toronto Maple Leafs lost to the Jets by a score of 5-2, and it was not a pretty game, especially with Auston Matthews out of the lineup due to injury.

Craig Berube on the Maple Leafs struggling offense

Something the Maple Leafs have shockingly struggled with this season has been their offense.

Although the top lines have been solid, the bottom-six has mostly struggled outside of a few games this season.

On Monday afternoon, everyone was struggling, and after the game, Craig Berube was asked about what went wrong.

His answer was a pretty straightforward one, noting that a lot of it comes down to getting shots on the actual net, instead of missing wide all of the time.

I think the offense has been coming. We have been scoring more at five-on-five as of late. The power play got us one tonight first.

We miss the net a lot, and we missed the net a lot again tonight. I think it was 23 times.

The Maple Leafs have struggled with missing the net a lot so far this season, and through 35 games, it has seldom gotten any better.

However, that is not to say that this can't get any better. It easily can, but it is up to the players for that to happen.

Hopefully, the Winter break can reinvigorate this team to get it going again. They have the pieces to make something happen.

If they don't then the Atlantic Division race could slip out of their fingers exceptionally fast.
