Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube had to watch his team get trounced by the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night.

The game was not a pretty sight whatsoever as the final score was 3-0, and the Leafs never felt like they had any energy throughout the evening.

Overall, it was one of those games that you just want to forget about, at all costs.

With Auston Matthews and Max Pacioretty out of the lineup, the team had zero offensive capabilities. It was an easy game for the Senators, and fans were beyond frustrated.

One can just imagine the frustration of Berube, who had to witness this terrible performance. As he told Sportsnet, it was not the effort he was hoping for.

«We got out-skated. They wanted it more than us. That's the bottom line."

Craig Berube is an honest guy when it comes to the Maple Leafs

Berube was eventually asked whether or not this was the worst loss of his tenure. The head coach confirmed this to be the case.

«Pretty close. I mean, it wasn't good,» Berube continued. «The other games we lost, there were different situations. But tonight, we didn't have control of the game at all.»

The Leafs are now going to have to regroup on Wednesday as they have yet another back-to-back. This time, against the Washington Capitals.

The Capitals are among the best teams in the NHL right now. They sit at a record of 10-4 and have looked pretty sensational.

It is going to be tough to stop them, especially as Alexander Ovechkin continues to play at a high level.

Only time will tell whether or not this Leafs team can come through with a bounce back effort.
