Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Kampf has had some ups and down to start the season, especially as he has only managed two points in the first 13 games.

However, last night was huge for him. The Toronto Maple Leafs player ended up killing penalties for the team. It led to a 4-0 win against the Boston Bruins, a team that the Leafs were certainly desperate to defeat.

After the game, Kampf got some very kind words from his head coach Craig Berube. For many, this could be a sign of things to come for Kampf. Many felt like it was a given that he would be traded. However, these latest comments from Berube show that there is still some hope that Kampf can contribute to this team going forward.

David Kampf gets praised by his coach

"He has been really good lately - like, for a while now. He was strong on the faceoff dot, which was good. It was more him getting to understand our penalty kill, the trigger points, and things like that. He has really taken on that role. That is his role, and he relishes it. He is doing a great job for us."

If Kampf can continue to contribute like this, then the Leafs will certainly want to keep him around. However, in the National Hockey League, pretty well anything can happen. Having said that, Kampf will just have to keep up the good work.
