Craig Berube Rips the Referees Following Nick Cousins' Disgusting Hit On Jacob Quillan
Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube was not impressed following the horrible hit from Nick Cousins on rookie Jacob Quillan during his first career game.
Jacob Quillan was making his NHL debut last night in front of friends and family, although it almost went south extremely fast because of Nick Cousins.
The knee-on-knee collision looked awful as both players were down for some time in the immediate aftermath.
Jacob Quillan gets rocked by Nick Cousins
There was no penalty on the play which was certainly a sore spot for Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube.
After the game, he spoke on the hit noting that Quillan was fine but that next time, the referees should be able to catch something so blatant.
"That was tough hit. I didn't understand how they all missed that. To me, that's a knee all day long. But he was fine."
It was a bad night for the Toronto Maple Leafs on the whole as the team lost to the Ottawa Senators by a score of 2-1.
Overall, the Maple Leafs could not get anything going on offense as superstar players like Auston Matthews were like a ghost out there.
The team has struggled against the Senators this season which does not bode well for a potential playoff matchup against one another.
Moving forward, the Leafs get to play the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday and they will need to bounce back and show the fans that they have a ton of fight left in them.
From there, the Four Nations Face-Off will kick off and the Leafs will have a nice weeks-long break.
Whether or not they keep their lead in the Atlantic Division remains to be seen.
