Toronto Maple Leafs forward Max Pacioretty is trying to get back into the lineup after an injury and that may just negatively impact rookie call-up Jacob Quillan.

Max Pacioretty was injured last weekend when he got hit by a puck in the face during a game against the Montreal Canadiens.

With numerous players out with injuries, Jacob Quillan was called up by the Maple Leafs.

Unfortunately, in his first career game, he was the victim of a knee-on-knee hit from Nick Cousins that left him in a whole lot of pain.

While Quillan did not skate on Monday, he was at practice on Tuesday which is certainly an encouraging sight to behold.

Unfortunately for him, Max Pacioretty has also returned to practice. In fact, according to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, the veteran NHLer was skating with the third line.

Based on this information, it appears as though Pacioretty will draw back into the Maple Leafs lineup while Quillan will have to be a scratch.

John Tavares and Matthew Knies are also close to returning to the lineup which means Quillan might have to be sent back down to the AHL soon.

The Leafs are also anticipating the return of Calle Jarnkrok, as well as Connor Dewar.

This is going to inject a whole bunch of depth into the lineup, and fans are hopeful that this will fix some of the team's recent scoring issues which have completely plagued the roster.

Only time will tell whether or not these Leafs forwards can push the team over the finish line as they try to make a deep Stanley Cup Playoffs run.
