With Anthony Stolarz and Joseph Woll experiencing some injuries this season, Dennis Hildeby has been able to play a total of three games with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
In those games, the rookie has managed a record of 2-1, however, he has been shakey at times, which led to the team favoring Matt Murray as the back-up going forward.
Hildeby had his first game back with the Toronto Marlies on Thursday night and he got to play against the Belleville Senators.
According to reporter Joshua Kloke, it was a very successful outing for the goaltender as he was able to get a 31-save shutout.
This was Hildeby's first shutout of the Marlies season, and he now has a record of 3-2-2 with a 2.33 GAA and a .914 SV%.
Overall, the performance of Dennis Hildeby could make things very difficult for the Toronto Maple Leafs, going forward.
We say this because there is still a chance that Matt Murray may not be the right back-up moving forward.
Murray is expected to play this weekend, whether it be against the Detroit Red Wings or the Washington Capitals.
If he plays poorly, then we could very well see Hildeby get called back up the big club until Anthony Stolarz comes back.
Either way, this next stretch of hockey for the Leafs is going to be fascinating.
