Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Miroslav Holinka was drafted in the fifth round this past year, and now, he is playing for the Czech Republic at the World Juniors.

Since being drafted 151st overall by the Maple Leafs in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, Miroslav Holinka has been a stud for the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL, picking up 21 points in 23 games.

Miroslav Holinka is doing it all for the Czech Republic

Much like Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan, Holinka is currently representing his country at the World Juniors.

Yesterday, the fifth-round pick got to play for his native Czech Republic as they took on Team Switzerland.

In the end, it was a great game for Czechia as they won by a score of 5-1, all while Holinka was able to get himself a goal.

The Oil Kings center was also able to manage an assist in the game, which made for a two-point outing.

Holinka has been touted as one of the top centers in the Czech Republic for this tournament, which means he has a lot of responsibility.

Czechia is one of those countries that can play spoiler in this tournament, and a 5-1 drumming of Switzerland proves that.

Of course, the favorites for this tournament are countries such as Canada, the United States, Sweden, and Finland.

With Russia barred from the tournament, there are more filler teams like Latvia and Kazakhstan which could make for a lopsided group stage.

Whatever the case may be, we will certainly be watching Miroslav Holinka as he attempts to make a name for himself in this tournament.
