Toronto Maple Leafs assistant coach Marc Savard has been tasked with building the team's power play and so far this season, he has done a pretty pitiful job.

When Marc Savard was hired to be a part of Craig Berube's coaching staff, there was a lot of hope that he would be able to the Maple Leafs' offensive weapons and bring them together to form the best power play in hockey.

Unfortunately, the Maple Leafs power play has been an utter disaster, and last night's game against the Vancouver Canucks was a prime example of this.

Toronto Maple Leafs struggling under Marc Savard

After the game, Auston Matthews spoke about the Leafs' power play, noting that there is actually an easy fix for their struggles.

"We just have to get more pucks to the net. A lot of movement, kind of a lot of nothing going on, I guess. I just think we can do a better job of simplifying it."

However, former Maple Leafs enforcer Jay Rosehill has a different suggestion entirely: fire Marc Savard.

In the clip above, Rosehill makes the argument that the Maple Leafs are not getting any better under Savard and that even five forwards on the power play cannot save them.

With the playoffs coming up in a few months from now, the Maple Leafs need their power play to start clicking, and therefore, it makes sense for Savard to get the chop.

Rosehill would like the Leafs to pursue a coach who has a track record of turning power plays around.

Of course, finding those kinds of guys is easier said than done and it would take a whole lot of effort.

At this stage, it seems very unlikely that Savard would be fired prior to the end of the season, even if it might be deserved.
