Nick Robertson Trade Chatter Heats Up As Maple Leafs Desperate For More Offense
The Toronto Maple Leafs have struggled with their offense this season and it has led to a ton of rumors surrounding underperforming forwards like Nick Robertson.
With the NHL trade deadline coming up, Nick Robertson is a player who has consistently been rumored to be on the move, especially with the Leafs targeting a Center for their third line.
Toronto Maple Leafs potentially moving on from Nick Robertson
Whenever Robertson enters the lineup, he plays on the third line with Max Domi and Bobby McMann.
There was a stretch during the month of December when this line was absolutely unstoppable.
However, Robertson has reverted back to the mean while the Maple Leafs have continued to show interest in moving Domi to the wing while also getting a new third-line center.
This would essentially spell the end of Robertson's time in Toronto. The prevailing notion has been that Robertson and some other assets would be flipped for a depth Center like Yanni Gourde or even Brock Nelson.
According to TSN and their "Trade Bait" board, Robertson is the 11th ranked player which means insiders are fairly confident that he will be on the move.
This is a stark contrast to The Fourth Period, who put Robertson 24th on their "Trade Bait" board earlier in the week.
The Maple Leafs forward has been part of trade rumors ever since the Summer when he came out and requested a trade prior to signing a deal with the team.
Since that time, Robertson has not been able to live up to his contract and the expectations.
Consequently, it feels like a trade is not a matter of if at this point, but a matter of "when."
