Toronto Maple Leafs fourth-liner Steven Lorentz has been very impressive so far this season and now, he is getting a shot on the top line with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.

Steven Lorentz has proven to be one of the Toronto Maple Leafs' most effective offseason signings.

The Stanley Cup winner has excelled under Craig Berube's system and continues to be rewarded for his efforts. In fact, he has played in all 44 games this season, making him one of the few players on the team to do so.

Steven Lorentz gets a tryout on the first line

With the Leafs offense struggling over the past couple of games, it appears as though head coach Craig Berube has decided to enact some drastic measures at practice today.

For instance, according to Sportsnet reporter Luke Fox, Lorentz was practicing with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner on the first line.

The reporter went so far as to say that Lorentz was even performing well with his superstar linemates.

Whether or not Lorentz actually gets to play on the top line tomorrow against the Dallas Stars, still remains to be seen.

It seems completely unlikely that it would happen, although you never really know with head coach Craig Berube.

Perhaps this is a test to see if Lorentz can be called upon in the case of an emergency.

Either way, we're sure the fourth-liner was excited to get this opportunity at practice today.

He has been a beacon of consistency for the Toronto Maple Leafs, and it's cool to see a guy like him get first line consideration, even if he only has four goals and five assists this season.
