Joseph Woll has been the starter for the Toronto Maple Leafs ever since Anthony Stolarz went down with an injury, and the team cannot afford to lose him.
In Stolarz's absence, Woll has been pretty good and if it weren't for him, the Maple Leafs would be in a much worse position right now.
However, at practice today, the goaltender gave his Maple Leafs teammates quite the scare.
According to David Alter of The Hockey News, Woll took a puck to the goalie mask and was shaken up a bit.
That said, the goaltender was able to collect himself and eventually continue with the practice. Simply put, you can expect him in the net tomorrow night against the Dallas Stars.
You never want to see a goalie take a puck to the face, even if they have a mask on. Those masks do a good job of dissipating the impact, but they aren't fool proof.
As for Woll's stats this season, he has a goals-against average of 2.58 and a save percentage of .912.
Overall, these are the kinds of numbers that will definitely win you games in today's NHL, but the Leafs have certainly seen better from Stolarz this season.
Whatever the case may be, it is good to see Woll staying healthy, especially given his history.
Hopefully, he can play lights out tomorrow night and break the Leafs out of their current two-game losing skid.
