During his first sting with the Maple Leafs earlier in the season, Fraser Minten was a stud, notching four points in 11 games.
Since that time, he has been playing with the Toronto Marlies, and now, he is getting another chance with the Leafs following an injury to John Tavares.
When the announcement was made this morning, it was unclear whether or not Minten would actually be playing tonight or if he would be a healthy scratch.
After all, it had been over a month since he had practiced with the team and showed them any kind of meaningful reps.
According to reporter Luke Fox, it has since been confirmed that Minten will be out of the lineup tonight but could get an opportunity Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens.
Instead, Max Domi will be the second-line center, while Pontus Holmberg will be the third-line center.
Head coach Craig Berube was contemplating some ice time for Minten, however, since it has been so long, he decided against it.
This is going to be a very important game for the Maple Leafs who have lost three games in a row.
Their effort has been lackluster over these past couple of weeks and the team really needs a big effort to get over the hump and show people that they are still a top team in the Eastern Conference.
Moreover, this is also a rematch against former head coach Sheldon Keefe, who is 0-2 against the Leafs this season.
